Current Situation
Ports and marine travel are employing more smart technology to increase cargo movement efficiency in ports. This effort to employ connectivity is increasing the visibility of operations, reducing manual processes and paperwork, and allowing for contactless payment on ferries.
Goals and Objectives
The objective is to provide secure and efficient real-time communication of the status of passenger and cargo traversing through ports and ferry terminals.
Technology Deployed
Hardware: Enterprise hardware, sensors, and connectivity
Software: Cloud/edge-based processing, cloud-enabled analytics, AI-enabled traffic control/management, AI-enabled detection, decision making and asset processing, analytics, and dashboards
Services: Managed security, GNSS, wireless communications, blockchain, freight management, analytics, and diagnostics
Use Case Summary
IoT and connectivity are enhancing marine shipping and waterborne passenger activities by driving increasing operational security, efficiency, and visibility at ports. (Customs and immigration/border control activities are not part of this use case.)
