Current Situation
Local artistic endeavors and historical artifacts — anything from a meme to a historically significant signed trade treaty; a digital self-portrait, graffiti, or historical cave wall paintings and murals; and a digital “online pet” or a real-life famous pet (e.g., Hachiko Inu) — will potentially look to NFT solutions to provide a digital proof of provenance or details about the origin, veracity, ownership, and transaction details.
Goals and Objectives
The objective is to leverage NFTs/blockchain to recognize locally created artistic endeavors and heritage artifacts as genuine “digital assets.”
Technology Deployed
NFTs/blockchain, cloud services, data management, and big data/analytics
Use Case Summary
NFTs can support various local art and heritage endeavors, from digital art, in-game items, music, and even domain names to provide art and heritage creators the ability to claim intellectual property rights due to the uniqueness of their creation, which are not mutually interchangeable. NFTs function as a digital authentication tool to provide provenance or traceable data about the source, authenticity, proof of ownership, and past transactional exchanges for local art and heritage collectibles, whether physical or virtual.
