Current Situation
Fulfill-from-store operations have been largely manual and handled ad hoc without incorporating store footprint, available space for staging packing operations, storing packaging materials or packaged parcels, or storing additional inventory that is sent to stores to fulfill online operations. Most retail stores were not originally designed and laid out with these tasks in mind.
Goals and Objectives
Enable organizations to gain visibility into and improve the fulfill-from-store operations by taking into account square footage and available space for staging packaging operations and storing all necessary materials and inventory during the process and at points before and after when inventory has arrived and before it leaves in packaged form. The goal of this use case is to right-size orders in number (of orders) and type (of product) that are sent to stores to optimize space across online and in-store sales.
Technology Deployed
Cloud, integrations to OMS/DOM, and ERP
Use Case Summary
Improve fulfill-from-store operations (and overall store operations) by factoring in space considerations when assigning online orders to stores, to ensure that store and associate are not overwhelmed with product and packaging and, conversely, that opportunity to use available store space is not left on the table.
