Current Situation
Current editing systems include features for creating projects, workspaces, and workflows; capturing and importing, editing, video effects and transitions, graphics, titles, and animations, compositing, color correction and grading, exporting media, collaboration: Frame.io, productions, and team projects, organizing and managing assets, improving performance and troubleshooting, monitoring assets and offline media and publishing to social and other multi-platform destinations.
Goals and Objectives
Cloud-based video editing means that you upload your source video files to the cloud service and then edit and encode them within your browser. The actual edits are performed on machines provisioned by the cloud service so you can edit from a notebook or underpowered computer. Native cloud-based video editing software makes working with footage easy because it lets you store and edit all your footage from a single platform, share videos with other team members and collaborate on edits, send video projects for feedback with custom share links, clear storage space on your computer, and perform edits in an online browser.
Technology Deployed
Cloud-based shared resources including compute, networking, encoding, transcoding, storage, MAM, packaging and distribution services from Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and/or Google Cloud. Contribution and/or distribution technologies include SMPTE 2110, NDI, ZIXI, SRT, RST, low latency HLS and DASH.
The browser using standard technologies, is continually reviewed, and updated for speed, efficiency, features, and security. It is responsible for retrieving, rendering, caching, and presenting the audiovisual content to the user. It also provides a sophisticated editing interface, which captures edit decisions, so that they can be applied to the original source material, and provides buttons for fire-and forget publishing to other platforms.
Use Case Summary
Use cases range from remote production of edited clips for publishing to social platforms to the processing and editing of long form content for video-on-demand platforms. Applications include news, sports, motion pictures, sitcoms, and many more such as enterprise training and marketing videos.
