Current Situation
Monitoring drivers today is done through a combination of inputs, which are time consuming and may not identify driver and vehicle issues early enough. The process relies largely on basic two-way communications with driver and vehicle maintenance reports.
Goals and Objectives
The goal of this use case is to reduce risk and improve cost avoidance measures, by collecting geographic location data from driver/asset together with automated vehicle maintenance information.
Technology Deployed
Electronic load devices (ELDs), IoT, live vehicle tracking, mobile, and transportation management systems (TMS)
Use Case Summary
Driver performance is assessed including average speed, length of idling times, patterns of starting/stopping, and type of acceleration. Driver profiles are created from aggregated data, allowing carriers and fleet operators to determine which drivers are more prone to accidents through more real-time information and consistent risk assessments.
